om Marquand enjoyed a landmark success at Chepstow on Friday as Sir Plato provided him with a 500th career winner in Britain. Marquand, who has a first ride in the Investec Derby this weekend on Andrew Balding's Khalifa Sat, has been in red-hot form since the resumption of racing. Sir Plato (evens favourite) won the Elite Racing Club 394 Wins Handicap by a length for trainer Rod Millman, backing up an easy success from just over a week ago. "I'm really fortunate to have had the level of support I've had for the last five and a bit years since I started riding," Marquand told Sky Sports Racing.                        Andrew Nelis Racing 

Tom Marquand is determined to build on the big impression he made in an extended spell in Australia when the Flat season gets under way in Britain. With racing sidelined domestically amid the coronavirus crisis, the 22-year-old took full advantage of the opportunities that came his way during his time on the other side of the world - highlighted by Group One victories aboard the William Haggas-trained Addeybb. Success in the Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill in March was Marquand's maiden triumph at the top level and the pair struck again in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick last month.

Jockey Tom Marquand was fined AU$2,000 (just over £1,000) for breaking Australia's coronavirus protocols by embracing a stablehand after his win on Addeybb on Saturday. Marquand was celebrating Grade 1 victory on William Haggas' horse in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick when he embraced stablehand Safid Alam, who was fined $500 (around £250). Stewards at the Sydney track were forced to meet after the incident to decide whether to allow Marquand to continue riding as he had breached strict social distancing regulations.
