The Irish champions beckons for Alpine Star Andrew Nelis

Alpine Star may bid to cap her fine season in next month’s Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. Jessica Harrington’s Group One-winning filly was outgunned only by the unbeaten Palace Pier in her first foray into open-age company against the colts in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville this month. She was previously a Royal Ascot winner in the Coronation Stakes and then narrowly failed to peg back Fancy Blue in the Prix de Diane over 10 and a half furlongs at Chantilly. Her owners the Niarchos family are yet to decide whether another of their three-year-old stars Highest Ground will be out again this season, or wait until next summer. But racing manager Alan Cooper confirmed they have a much more definite plan for Alpine Star.. “At the moment, Mrs Harrington is leaning towards the Irish Champion Stakes,” he said.                        Andrew Nelis Racing

Jessica pondering next move for Lucky Vega Andrew Nelis Racing

Jessica Harrington has a choice of high-profile targets in mind next for her Phoenix Stakes hero Lucky Vega. A winner on his Naas debut, the son of Lope De Vega was then narrowly beaten by fellow Phoenix contender Laws Of Indices in last month's Railway Stakes. However, in what looked a strong renewal of last Sunday's six-furlong Group One, Lucky Vega emphatically turned the tables and left the rest of his rivals trailing in his wake.                       Andrew Nelis Racing

Cadillac sets sights on the Tyros stakes at Leopardstown Thursday Andrew Nelis Racing

Jessica Harrington  is excited to see what  Cadillac  can do in the Japan Racing Association Tyros Stakes at  Leopardstown  on Thursday. The Lope De Vega colt went off favourite for his racecourse introduction over the same course and distance he tackles again at the start of July – and that apparent confidence was justified in some style as he came home with nine lengths in hand. Cadillac tests the water at Group Three level – and Harrington is looking forward to the challenge. She said: “We’ve been happy with him since the last day, so let’s hope he’s as good as his name. ...                         Andrew Nelis Racing

Victory in Galway for Camphor jessica harrington and shane Foley Andrew Nelis Racing

Camphor (9/4) brought up a brace of winners on the final day of Galway for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley. The four-year-old filly contested the extended mile and five JPK Fencing Race, and moved into a threatening position behind Bigbadandbeautiful approaching the home bend. The leader soon came under pressure and Camphor's flat speed came to the fore as she took over inside the final furlong. She was driven out to account for Tandem (12/1) by a couple of lengths..                        Andrew Nelis racing

Cayenne peppers connections bullish about bid for Irish Oaks Andrew Nelis Racing

Cayenne Pepper bids to provide Jessica Harrington with her second Classic success in the Juddmonte Irish Oaks at the Curragh. While better known for her her exploits over jumps thanks to the likes of dual Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Moscow Flyer and Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Sizing John, the Moone-based trainer has become an increasingly powerful force on the Flat in recent seasons. Two years ago Harrington made a Classic breakthrough, landing the Irish 1,000 Guineas with the brilliant filly Alpha Centauri – and she now has high hopes of adding the Irish Oaks to her glittering CV on Saturday...                         Andrew Nelis racing

Gold Maze to Have a crack at the Irish Derby Andrew Nelis

essica Harrington has had her horses in sparkling form since racing resumed and is planning to let Gold Maze take his chance in Saturday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh. A son of 2015 Epsom Derby and Arc winner Golden Horn, he was third in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes behind subsequent Vertem Futurity runner-up Innisfree on his second and final outing as a two-year-old. On his first outing of 2020 he was headed inside the final furlong when running second to another Irish Derby possible Crossfirehurricane in the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes back at the Curragh earlier this month..                        Andrew Nelis Racing

One voice gets the nod over snow to win the irish stallion farms stakes Andrew Nelis

One Voice got the better of a thrilling duel with Snow to claim Group Three honours in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Blue Wind Stakes at Leopardstown. Runner-up on her debut at the same course before going one better there last July, Jessica Harrington's filly was last seen going down by just a nose to stablemate Silence Please in the Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan this month. The daughter of Poet's Voice was a 16-5 chance to get back on the winning trail on her return to Leopardstown - but it did not look all that likely leaving the back straight, with jockey Shane Foley starting to get to work towards the rear of the field...

Sussex Garden strikes at Naas Andrew Nelis racing

ussex Garden struck on debut in the Free Eagle Irish EBF Fillies Maiden at Naas for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley. Foley of course had a 13,218/1 four-timer here on June 8th, and like he did that afternoon the Kilkenny man bided his time well on the Cormac O’Flynn-owned victor. She finished off best to touch off favourite Hazel by a neck. Sussex Garden chased the leaders on the rail, and she was third at the halfway stage. Ridden in fourth over a furlong out, the winner was soon switched right. From there she ran on well to challenge in the last fifty yards, before leading close home. “You would have to be delighted with that. Cormac O’Flynn bought her as he knew we had the sister Justina. She has a lot more size and scope than Justina," said Mrs Harrington's daughter Kate...                          Andrew Nelis racing
Oisin Murphy and Jessica Harrington will team up for the first time at Newmarket on Sunday week as the champion jockey has been booked to ride last year's Cheveley Park Stakes winner Millisle in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas.  Strict Covid-19 regulations mean that regular rider Shane Foley would have to quarantine for a fortnight upon his return if he made the trip to Newmarket so Harrington has instead opted to book a British-based jockey and is thrilled to have secured Murphy's services.  Harrington said: "Shane [Foley] can't ride Millisle so I've gone and booked Oisin Murphy good and early for her. I'm not slow out of the gates, you know! I've been thinking ahead."
