Gosden wary of the talented Poetic flare Andrew Nelis racing

John Gosden is not expecting Palace Pier to get things entirely his own way as he faces an “elite” field in defence of the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois title. Gosden's four-year-old returns to Deauville on Sunday, live on  Sky Sports Racing , after recovering from a blood disorder that saw him miss the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Jim Bolger's 2000 Guineas winner Poetic Flare, who found Alcohol Free one too good for him at Goodwood last month, looks the main danger to Palace Pier.                    Andrew Nelis racing

Dettori lands the Prix Guillaume D Ornano at Deauville Andrew Nelis racing

Mishriff backed up his French Derby success with a comfortable victory in the Prix Guillaume D'Ornano at Deauville. The John Gosden-trained colt justified jockey Frankie Dettori's decision to cross the Channel and miss riding at York next week, as a result of new quarantine regulations regarding travel from France. Mishriff took on the horses who were second and third behind him in the Prix du Jockey Club in The Summit and Victor Ludorum - but the outcome was more emphatic this time...                      Andrew Nelis Racing

Frankie Reroutes to France avoiding the Ebor

Frankie Dettori described himself as “gutted” to be missing next week’s Ebor Festival at York after choosing instead to ride in France this weekend. The popular Italian was booked by trainer John Gosden to partner his French Derby hero Mishriff in Saturday’s Group Two Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville, and the unbeaten St James’s Palace Stakes winner Palace Pier in the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois the following afternoon. However, a Government announcement late on Thursday evening revealed France was to join the UK’s quarantine list from 4am on Saturday, following a spike in coronavirus cases, meaning anyone travelling back across the Channel after that time will need to quarantine for 14 days. Dettori told the PA news agency on Friday: “Obviously I only found out at 10pm last night. “This morning I spoke at length with John, and I decided to go to France..                               ...

Miss Yoda captures the German Oaks Dusseldorf Andrew Nelis Racing

Frankie Dettori steered Miss Yoda to a front-running victory in the German Oaks at Dusseldorf. An impressive winner of the Lingfield Oaks Trial in early June, John Gosden’s filly subsequently disappointed in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot before finishing fourth in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket. Back against her own sex in the 162nd Henkel-Preis der Diana, Miss Yoda was soon bowling along at the head of affairs under Dettori, who began to ask his mount for more at the top of the home straight. Miss Yoda initially hung left under pressure, but once straightened up by the all-conquering Italian, found generously in the closing stages to keep her challengers at bay. It was a first victory in the race for both Gosden and Dettori, who told Wett Star: “She jumped good. I wanted to be in front and I was in front by the bend. After that she was flowing with a lovely action. “When I turned for home she was thinking of going back to the stables, so she stopped a bit. But then...

Filly Nazeef to enter the Qatar Nassau Stakes Goodwood Andrew Nelis racing

Nazeef has already exceeded the hopes of her connections and will therefore face her next challenge with "no pressure" in the Qatar Nassau Stakes. Defending champion Deirdre and French Classic winner Fancy Blue lead the six-strong opposition to John Gosden's prolific filly in Thursday's Group One showpiece at Goodwood. Nazeef is already an "absolute star", however, in the words of owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager Angus Gold - who is optimistic that, following her Group One breakthrough in Newmarket's Falmouth Stakes, she will take this move up to 10 furlongs in her stride..                     Andrew Nelis Racing .

Stradivarious remarkable fourth Shaqab goodwood cup Andrew Nelis Racing

Stradivarius pulled off a dramatic piece of racing history with a memorable performance to win his fourth successive Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup. Sent off the 4-7 favourite, John Gosden's brilliant stayer faced a major challenge on paper from the Royal Ascot and Irish Classic winner Santiago - as a three-year-old in receipt of 15lb. Frankie Dettori and the three-time Ascot Gold Cup winner had plenty on their plate in the two-mile showpiece, forced into fifth on the inside of the field as several rivals came from off the pace which was set by Nayef Road and Santiago...

John Gosden talks about Santiago being the biggest threat Andrew Nelis racing

John Gosden believes Santiago represents a major obstacle for Stradivarius to overcome in his bid for a historic fourth Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup victory. The Bjorn Nielsen-owned Stradivarius has dominated the staying division over the past few seasons and equalled the popular Double Trigger's record of three triumphs in this two-mile Group One with a narrow verdict over regular foe Dee Ex Bee last summer. Having destroyed his rivals when claiming a Gold Cup hat-trick at Royal Ascot last month, Stradivarius will be a warm order on his return to the Sussex Downs - but Gosden is taking nothing for granted, with Stradivarius set to concede more than a stone in weight to Aidan O'Brien's Queen's Vase and Irish Derby hero Santiago...

Stradivarius heads to Goodwood Tuesday Andrew Nelis Racing

Stradivarius will face Irish Derby winner Santiago as he attempts to win the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup for a fourth time on Tuesday. John Gosden's chestnut looked imperious in winning a third Gold Cup at Ascot last month and will aim to keep hold of his title as the best stayer around. However, he needs to give 15lb to Aidan O'Brien's Santiago, who like Stradivarius won the Queen's Vase at Ascot, but charted a different path by dropping back in trip to claim Classic glory...

Enable in a line up of four in total for King George Andrew Nelis Racing

Enable will face just three rivals - all trained by Aidan O'Brien - as she bids for a piece of history at Ascot on Saturday afternoon. John Gosden's six-year-old mare will become the first horse ever to win the King George on three separate occasions if she can go one better than on her seasonal comeback in the Coral-Eclipse earlier in the month. Standing in her way are just a trio of horses from the Ballydoyle camp, namely Japan, Anthony Van Dyck and likely outsider Sovereign....

Global Giant wins the Steventon Stakes Newbury

Global Giant resumed his progression to gain the most notable success of his career in the bet365 Steventon Stakes at Newbury. After meeting trouble in running on his last start at Sandown, the five-year-old son of Shamardal gained compensation in the Listed prize to make two wins from three outings since joining John Gosden from Ed Dunlop. Although Frankie Dettori was forced to commit the the 2-1 favourite sooner than he wanted, it failed to prevent the pair from prevailing by a length from the staying-on Extra Elusive..                 Andrew Nelis Racing

Nazeef contender for the Falmouth Friday Newmarket Andrew Nelis

Nazeef bids to complete her progression through the ranks in the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday. The four-year-old filly, trained by John Gosden, has been on a roll since opening her account in a maiden at Newmarket in June 2019. She has won her last five starts, with victories in Listed and Group Two company on her last two starts...                     Andrew Nelis Racing

Franklyn Darlings Owner Talks about his fillies chances in Oaks Andrew Nelis

Owner Anthony Oppenheimer believes the fact no spectators will be at Epsom on Saturday for the Investec Oaks could boost the chances of his filly Frankly Darling. The daughter of Frankel has come a long way in a short space of time, as she was still a maiden when racing resumed on June 1. She was the undoubted star in action when racing returned at Newcastle, with the John Gosden-trained filly bolting up and subsequently going on to land the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. That race would normally come after the Oaks, but in this mixed up season it was seen as a trial for Epsom.                        Andrew Nelis racing

Enable to face six rivals in the Eclipse Andrew Nelis

Enable will face six rivals in a mouthwatering renewal of the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Sunday. John Gosden's superstar is back in training for a fifth season after narrowly missing out in her bid for a record-breaking third win in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last October. Enable won the 10-furlong Group One first time out last term, beating Magical, and she faces another stiff task this time, although no three-year-olds are permitted this year.                     Andrew Nelis Racing

Love and Franklyn Darling locked together at the top of the Oaks market Andrew Nelis

Market leaders Love and Frankly Darling head a field of eight for the Investec Oaks at Epsom on Saturday. Love has been the ante-post favourite since her convincing victory in the Qipco 1000 Guineas and she now bids to become the first filly since Minding in 2016 to win both Classics. Her trainer Aidan O'Brien also saddles Ennistymon and Passion as he seeks a seventh Oaks success.                       Andrew Nelis Racing

Daughter of Frankel Franconia enters the Musidora stakes York Andrew nelis.

Franconia, who broke her maiden in Listed company at Newbury last month, will head for the Musidora Stakes at York next week. The Group Three is normally one of the best trials for the Oaks - but in this coronavirus-affected season, it will take place after the Classic. Trained by John Gosden, the daughter of Frankel was given quotes for the Oaks after her win..                      Andrew Nelis racing

Stradivarious tears Gold cup field to pieces as he claims three in a row Ascot Andrew Nelis

Stradivarius became a three-time Gold Cup winner at Royal Ascot with arguably his most impressive performance to date. Held onto for as long as possible by Frankie Dettori - who was claiming his eighth victory in the great marathon race - the son of Sea The Stars simply cruised into contention on the turn in and sauntered alongside long-time leader Nayef Road, who wasn't giving up easily for Ryan Moore. But Stradivarius turned on the after-burners with a couple of furlongs to go and streaked clear to win by 10 lengths and enter the record books in tremendous style..

Lord North prevails in the Prince of wales stakes Ascot Andrew Nelis racing

Lord North  produced a devastating turn of foot to run out a convincing winner of the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. Stepping up to Group One company for the first time, last year’s Cambridgeshire winner bridged the gap in some style. John Gosden ’s charge had looked good when winning the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Haydock earlier this month – but this was even better as he destroyed a quality field. Bangkok  made the running with  Addeybb  and  Japan  close up, while  James Doyle  was happy to sit Lord North (5-1) at the rear of the seven runners..
