Click to View Bonus Code Details Champion jockey Oisin Murphy is weighing up whether or not to appeal against the seven-day suspension he picked up at Ayr on Monday, which rules him out of the Pertemps St Leger Festival at Doncaster. Murphy was successful aboard odds-on shot Tiritomba, but was found guilty of careless riding as he was judged by the stewards to have “allowed his mount to drift left for a considerable time without sufficient correction causing (Paul) Mulrennan (rider of Ricksen) to take a significant check and clip heels”. Murphy is currently well clear of nearest pursuer Tom Marquand is this year’s race for the jockeys’ championship Asked about the possibility of an appeal, he said: “I haven’t spoken to the PJA (Professional Jockeys Association) yet, to be honest. “I had an appeal that I didn’t win the other day from a ban at Wolverhampton, which wasn’t what I hoped for. “It’s a little bit stressful, because I hope everyone is aw...

Oisin speaks out in defence of racing on the spotlight by media

Oisin Murphy  said on Friday that the media are creating an “issue out of nothing” over the interference rules in racing. Interference has become a hot topic and again raised its head at Glorious Goodwood last week when Tilsit was allowed to keep a race despite badly impeding My Oberon in the closing stages.  Ryan Moore, the winning rider, was given a five-day ban . A couple of days earlier,  Rab Havlin won an appeal against a ten-day ban  that was originally given to him for causing interference at Yarmouth..                           Andrew Nelis racing

Oisin Murphy bags a double at Newmarket Andrew Nelis Racing

Oisin Murphy strengthened his position at the top of the Flat jockeys' championship with a Listed-race double at Newmarket, highlighted by victory for Withhold in the Gloriously Simple MansionBet Further Flight Stakes. Although the former Northumberland Plate and Cesarewitch winner may no longer be the force he once was, the Roger Charlton-trained seven-year-old demonstrated he still retains plenty of ability in landing the mile-and-three-quarter feature usually staged at Nottingham. Out in front from leaving the stalls, the 5-4 favourite stayed on in tenacious fashion under the reigning champion to cross the line three lengths clear of Dubious Affair..                     Andrew Nelis Racing

Time scale times it well at Newmwrket Andrew Nelis

Time Scale proved a cut above her rivals to run out a decisive winner of the Betway Empress Fillies' Stakes. The Ralph Beckett-trained daughter of Charm Spirit continued her climb through the ranks when backing up her facile success at Chepstow last time out with Listed glory. Travelling well throughout the six-furlong prize, the 6-4 favourite quickly put the race to bed when sent on by champion jockey Oisin Murphy before crossing the line three and half lengths clear of the previously unbeaten Concessions..                         Andrew Nelis racing

The Lir Jet (9/2) flys home in the Nortolk stakes for Michael bell Andrew nelis

The Lir Jet (9-2) swooped late to collar long-time leader Golden Pal and grab gold in the Norfolk Stakes. Wesley Ward's American raider Golden Pal was smartly away and looked set to make every yard in the Group Two prize under Andrea Atzeni. However, Oisin Murphy was not for giving up on The Lir Jet and his efforts paid dividends in the final half-furlong as the Michael Bell-trained colt just edged in front by a neck...
Oisin Murphy and Jessica Harrington will team up for the first time at Newmarket on Sunday week as the champion jockey has been booked to ride last year's Cheveley Park Stakes winner Millisle in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas.  Strict Covid-19 regulations mean that regular rider Shane Foley would have to quarantine for a fortnight upon his return if he made the trip to Newmarket so Harrington has instead opted to book a British-based jockey and is thrilled to have secured Murphy's services.  Harrington said: "Shane [Foley] can't ride Millisle so I've gone and booked Oisin Murphy good and early for her. I'm not slow out of the gates, you know! I've been thinking ahead."
