Nickajack Nick's it for Ger lyons Andrew Nelis racing

Nickajack Cave continued his progression through the ranks, as he claimed the Group 3 Bahrain International Ballyroan Stakes. A surprise winner of the Saval Beg in June, the Ger Lyons trained grey was sent off a 15/8 chance this afternoon, with Pondus returned the 11/10 market leader. Settled behind the leaders on the inner by Gary Carroll, the son of Kendargent was ridden to challenge the front-running Fresnel with a furlong and a half left to race. He soon edged to the front inside the final furlong and kept on well for pressure in the closing stages, going on to prevail by half a length...                       Andrew Nelis racing

Siskin plans on hold for now Andrew Nelis

Connections of Siskin have yet to firm up plans for his next appearance after the Ger Lyons-trained colt suffered a first career defeat at Goodwood last week. The Irish 2,000 Guineas hero was the clear favourite to claim his sixth win from as many starts in a vintage renewal of the Sussex Stakes, but had to make do with minor honours in third behind the impressive Mohaather. The Khalid Abdullah-owned son of First Defence is reported to be none the worse for his exertions and has a range of options open to him...

Clash of the titans Kameko and siskin to line up in the Qatar stakes Andrew Nelis racing

Classic-winning three-year-olds Kameko and Siskin square up in a field of seven for the race of the season in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. They were victorious in the English and Irish 2000 Guineas respectively and now take on the older horses in Wednesday’s Group One over a mile. Siskin, trained by Ger Lyons, has not raced since scoring in impressive fashion at the Curragh. His rider Colin Keane has made the decision to come over for the ride despite having to face 14 days’ quarantine on his return to Ireland. The Andrew Balding-trained Kameko drops back to this trip after finding a mile and a half too far when fourth in the Investec Derby. The two other three-year-olds in the line-up are the Aidan O’Brien-trained duo of Wichita and Vatican City. The former was second to Kameko at Newmarket, with Vatican City occupying the same spot behind Siskin at the Curragh. O’Brien also again sends over four-year-old Circus Maximus, winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Asco...

Colin Keane keen on siskin for Qatar stakes Andrew Nelis

Colin Keane is counting down the days until he is reunited with Siskin in a mouthwatering renewal of the Qatar Sussex Stakes. The Ger Lyons-trained colt won four times as a juvenile last season, with his top-level triumph in August's Phoenix Stakes proving to be his final appearance after he reared up in the stalls and was withdrawn prior to the Middle Park at Newmarket. With the coronavirus pandemic delaying his return, Siskin went straight into last month's Irish 2,000 Guineas and stretched his unbeaten record to five with a dominant display - providing both his trainer and jockey with a first taste of Classic success..

Ger Lyons and colin keane to take Siskin to Qatar Sussex stakes Andrew Nelis Racing

Colin Keane  will ride  Siskin  in next week’s Qatar Sussex Stakes, with the jockey believing the opportunity is “definitely worth” serving a 14-day quarantine period on his return to Ireland. Keane, who won the Irish 2,000 Guineas on the Ger Lyons-trained colt, admits the decision to ride at Goodwood could possibly end his bid to regain the champion jockey title he won in 2017, but he is willing to take that chance..                       Andrew Nelis racing .

Ger Lyons triumphs in the irish oaks by Even So Andrew Nelis Racing

Even So gave trainer Ger Lyons his second Classic triumph of 2020 with a game success in the Juddmonte Irish Oaks at the Curragh. Stepping up to a mile and a half from 10 furlongs proved no problem to the daughter of Camelot, who got on top in the final furlong to run out a ready winner. Even So (10-1) was ridden by Colin Keane, who partnered the Lyons-trained Siskin to victory in the Irish 2,000 Guineas last month.                Andrew Nelis Racing .

Siskin is the one to light up the racecourses Andrew Nelis

As we wait for the resumption of British racing, hopefully on June 1, France continues to fly the Tricolour keeping the European racing show on the road. The picture has changed slightly with the news on Tuesday that the French Government have moved the goalposts and racing in so called 'red zones' can no longer take place, despite that not being an issue initially.
