Battaash wins the Coolmore Nunthorpe stakes in fine style Andrew Nelis

Battaash continued his brilliant sprinting CV with a hard-fought victory in defence of his Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes crown at York. Charlie Hills' speedster had to defy rain-softened ground which put hopes of bettering the course record he set last year off the agenda. He also faced an unexpectedly stern challenge from outsider Que Amoro, before getting firmly on top in the final furlong to land the odds as the 1-2 favourite and see off the 22-1 runner-up by a length..                   Andrew Nelis Racing

Jim Crowley is counting down the days until he will be reunited with the brilliant Battaash in the Coolmore Nunthorpe at York. It is 14 years since the former northern-based jumps rider switched codes. Exactly a decade later, he was crowned Britain’s champion Flat jockey – before being appointed number one rider to one of the sport’s most prominent owners in Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum. It has proved a fruitful association for both, particularly this year, with Crowley booting home six winners for his boss at Royal Ascot in June and more recently steering crack miler Mohaather to top-level success in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.. Ubettabeliveit enters Nunthorpe stakes picture Andrew Nelis Racing .

Nigel Tinkler  is thinking of giving  Ubettabelieveit  a speculative entry in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at  York . The speedy youngster could stick to his own age group for the Roses Stakes, also over five furlongs, but Tinkler has not ruled out looking at the all-aged Group One on August 21. Ubettabelieveit showed he was an above-average two-year-old when winning the Listed National Stakes at Sandown. “He is more likely to go to York, but he wouldn’t run if it was very firm ground,” said North Yorkshire-based Tinkler...                         Andrew Nelis Racing
