Gosden wary of the talented Poetic flare Andrew Nelis racing

  John Gosden is not expecting Palace Pier to get things entirely his own way as he faces an “elite” field in defence of the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois title. Gosden's four-year-old returns to Deauville on Sunday, live on  Sky Sports Racing , after recovering from a blood disorder that saw him miss the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Jim Bolger's 2000 Guineas winner Poetic Flare, who found Alcohol Free one too good for him at Goodwood last month, looks the main danger to Palace Pier.                    Andrew Nelis racing 

Skalleti wins the Group Three Prix Gontaut - Biron Hong Kong at Deauville Andrew Nelis Racing

Skalleti edged out Sottsass to take the Group Three Prix Gontaut-Biron Hong Kong Jockey Club at Deauville. Trained in Marseille by Jerome Reynier, the five-year-old gelding just came out on top by a neck in the hands of Pierre-Charles Boudot, following a battle through the final furlong. The stewards called an inquiry, but the placings were allowed to stand. "He's a lovely horse. Frankie Reroutes to France avoiding the Ebor

Frankie Dettori described himself as “gutted” to be missing next week’s Ebor Festival at York after choosing instead to ride in France this weekend. The popular Italian was booked by trainer John Gosden to partner his French Derby hero Mishriff in Saturday’s Group Two Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville, and the unbeaten St James’s Palace Stakes winner Palace Pier in the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois the following afternoon. However, a Government announcement late on Thursday evening revealed France was to join the UK’s quarantine list from 4am on Saturday, following a spike in coronavirus cases, meaning anyone travelling back across the Channel after that time will need to quarantine for 14 days. Pinutobo to have a crack at the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville sunday France

Pinatubo bids to get back to winning ways after a couple of near misses when he goes for the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville on Sunday. Last year's champion European two-year-old has just fallen short in both the 2000 Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes. Those races were over a mile and connections of the Charlie Appleby-trained colt are dropping him down to seven furlongs in the hope of him regaining winning ways.
