Clive Cox to unleash Golden Horde in the sprint Cup Haydock Andrew Nelis racing

The Sprint Cup at Haydock is next on the agenda for Clive Cox's speedball Golden Horde. A high-class juvenile last season, the son of his trainer's former stable star Lethal Force made the perfect start to his three-year-old career by claiming Royal Ascot glory in the Commonwealth Cup. He had to make do with an honourable third when taking on his elders in the July Cup at Newmarket, before finishing a close-up fifth in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville.                    Andrew Nelis Racing

Clive Cox Fine Tuning Golden Horde for the Darley Andrew Nelis

Clive Cox believes Golden Horde will be lining up in “a proper Group One” for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket. The three-year-old will clash with older horses for the first time in Saturday’s six-furlong feature, after making a victorious return to action in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last month. That was a first top-level success for the Lethal Force colt, who landed the Richmond Stakes last year as well as finishing placed in both the Prix Morny and Middle Park, but Cox is aware his charge is going up a notch at Newmarket, with Diamond Jubilee winner Hello Youmzain heading the possible opposition. He said: “He’s in great form, he came back from Ascot very well indeed. The timescale between that run and here is perfect – obviously that was his seasonal debut, and I couldn’t be happier, he’s come back and thrived since then. “I think it’s a proper Group One, there’s a host of horses I would be respecting.                 ...

Nando Perrado France is calling in the Prix Morny at Deauville Andrew Nelis racing

Trainer Clive Cox has the Prix Morny at Deauville in mind for the Kodiac colt, who stunned punters and bookmakers alike as he took the Coventry Stakes as a complete outsider at 150-1 in a field of 15. "I think he'll probably go for the Prix Morny," said Cox. "We're looking towards that. That would be our plans and thoughts at this stage...                 Andrew Nelis racing.

Tasty Nando hunger prevails Andrew Nelis

Nando Parrado sprang a 150-1 shock in the Coventry Stakes. Beaten into fifth on his racecourse debut at Newmarket earlier this month, Clive Cox's charge showed plenty of improvement to bag this six-furlong contest. Partnered by Adam Kirby, Nando Parrado was in front with a couple of furlongs to run always looked like holding the late thrust of Qaader..                 Andrew Nelis Racing

Golden day for Golden Horde as lifts the commonwealth cup Andrew Nelis racing

Golden Horde made just about all the running to lift the Commonwealth Cup for Clive Cox and Adam Kirby. Off the track since being narrowly beaten in the Middle Park Stakes in September, Kirby quickly had his mount into stride. American challenger Kimari emerged as the only real challenger to Golden Horde, but the 5-1 winner had too much in reserve and pulled comfortably clear at the line...              Andrew Nelis Racing.

Clive Cox Golden Horde Andrew Nelis Racing

Clive Cox has plenty to look forward to when he is able to unleash Golden Horde and Positive this season. The pair did very little wrong last year, with Richmond Stakes winner Golden Horde finishing third to Earthlight in the Prix Morny before closing the gap on Andre Fabre's charge to a neck when second in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket. Positive found only Pinatubo too good in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and came out on top in a strong renewal of the Solario Stakes at Sandown, where he accounted for subsequent Verterm Futurity Trophy hero Kameko among others.
