Lack of cut in the ground leaves connections of Trueshan to pull him out .Andrew Nelis racing

Trueshan will miss his intended re-match with Stradivarius in the Doncaster Cup, because of a lack of significant rain on Town Moor. Trainer Alan King had indicated on Thursday that the Goodwood Cup winner would not take his chance in the Group Two feature unless overnight rain softened the forecast good to firm ground. It was therefore no surprise when King made an early announcement on Friday morning that Trueshan will be a non-runner because of the going - leaving John and Thady Gosden's brilliant stayer Stradivarius with just five opponents as he bids to regain his Doncaster title.                    Andrew Nelis racing

Stradivarious French target in September Andrew Nelis Racing

Stradivarius is among 20 entries for the Prix Foy at ParisLongchamp on September 13. John Gosden indicated after his six-year-old’s latest Goodwood Cup triumph that the mile-and-a-half contest would be the intended next port of call for his star stayer, with a crack at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in mind. The progressive Way To Paris, who won his first Group One at the age of seven last time out, and Jean-Claude Rouget’s Sottsass head the home team. Aidan O’Brien has entered Japan, Anthony Van Dyck and Sovereign, while Roger Charlton has given Extra Elusive the option after providing Hollie Doyle with a notable triumph in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock. The Prix Vermeille has attracted 25 entries, including the O’Brien-trained Magical, Ger Lyons’ Irish Oaks winner Even So, Dermot Weld’s Tarnawa and Rouget’s exciting filly Raabihah. Also among the entries is David Menuisier’s very easy Prix Minerve winner Wonderful Tonight. “We were very pleased with her last tim...

Stradivarious remarkable fourth Shaqab goodwood cup Andrew Nelis Racing

Stradivarius pulled off a dramatic piece of racing history with a memorable performance to win his fourth successive Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup. Sent off the 4-7 favourite, John Gosden's brilliant stayer faced a major challenge on paper from the Royal Ascot and Irish Classic winner Santiago - as a three-year-old in receipt of 15lb. Frankie Dettori and the three-time Ascot Gold Cup winner had plenty on their plate in the two-mile showpiece, forced into fifth on the inside of the field as several rivals came from off the pace which was set by Nayef Road and Santiago...

John Gosden talks about Santiago being the biggest threat Andrew Nelis racing

John Gosden believes Santiago represents a major obstacle for Stradivarius to overcome in his bid for a historic fourth Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup victory. The Bjorn Nielsen-owned Stradivarius has dominated the staying division over the past few seasons and equalled the popular Double Trigger's record of three triumphs in this two-mile Group One with a narrow verdict over regular foe Dee Ex Bee last summer. Having destroyed his rivals when claiming a Gold Cup hat-trick at Royal Ascot last month, Stradivarius will be a warm order on his return to the Sussex Downs - but Gosden is taking nothing for granted, with Stradivarius set to concede more than a stone in weight to Aidan O'Brien's Queen's Vase and Irish Derby hero Santiago...

Stradivarius heads to Goodwood Tuesday Andrew Nelis Racing

Stradivarius will face Irish Derby winner Santiago as he attempts to win the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup for a fourth time on Tuesday. John Gosden's chestnut looked imperious in winning a third Gold Cup at Ascot last month and will aim to keep hold of his title as the best stayer around. However, he needs to give 15lb to Aidan O'Brien's Santiago, who like Stradivarius won the Queen's Vase at Ascot, but charted a different path by dropping back in trip to claim Classic glory...

Stradivarious tears Gold cup field to pieces as he claims three in a row Ascot Andrew Nelis

Stradivarius became a three-time Gold Cup winner at Royal Ascot with arguably his most impressive performance to date. Held onto for as long as possible by Frankie Dettori - who was claiming his eighth victory in the great marathon race - the son of Sea The Stars simply cruised into contention on the turn in and sauntered alongside long-time leader Nayef Road, who wasn't giving up easily for Ryan Moore. But Stradivarius turned on the after-burners with a couple of furlongs to go and streaked clear to win by 10 lengths and enter the record books in tremendous style..
