Easyland For JP mcManus eyes the cross country and dethroning Tiger Roll Andrew Nelis

Easysland remains on course for a fascinating clash with Tiger Roll in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The French-trained six-year-old has shown he could be a real threat to the dual Grand National hero, who will be seeking to win next month’s race for the third year running – and the for fifth time in his stellar career at the Festival.

Easysland was bought by owner JP McManus after winning on his first attempt over Cheltenham’s cross-country course in December.

He is still based with trainer David Cottin at Lamorlaye and impressed on his first run for his new owner when a convincing winner in a Listed cross-country chase at Pau earlier this month.

“They’re very happy with him in France, and the plan is to go to Cheltenham – all is good,” said McManus’ racing manager Frank Berry.

“He won nicely there and came out of the race well. We’re looking forward to running him at Cheltenham.

“It should be a cracking race with Tiger Roll.”

Provisional plans revealed by the BHA on Wednesday revealed that the first two Classics of the year – the 2000 Guineas and 1000 Guineas sponsored by Qipco - have been inked in for the end of the first week of action. Twenty Listed or Group races have been planned for the first seven days with Royal Ascot following fast on their heels. All will be open to international runners. And once the royal meeting is over, there will be a swift countdown to the Investec Derby and Oaks, which have been pencilled in for July 4. Current option wins for Aldo Mcguiness Andrew Nelis Racing

Current Option capped an excellent Galway Festival for trainer Ado McGuinness and apprentice Gavin Ryan with victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Ahonoora" Handicap. McGuinness saddled Saltonstall to land Tuesday's BMW Mile, before Sirjack Thomas doubled his tally on Saturday. Ryan was aboard both horses and had also ridden winners for Dermot Weld and Donnacha O'Brien during the course of the week.
