Clan Des Obeaux fitted headgear for Aintree Andrew Nelis Racing

Clan Des Obeaux is set to be fitted with headgear for the first time in the Betway Bowl at Aintree. The dual King George VI Chase hero has finished third and second in the last two runnings of next week's Grade One contest - and will return to Merseyside in a bid to make it third time lucky on Thursday week. With connections deciding against a third tilt at the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Clan Des Obeaux will be making his first appearance since failing to reel in stablemate Secret Investor in last month's Denman Chase at Newbury.                                   Andrew Nelis Racing

Nicky Henderson on the next step for his Crack Stars

Unibet ambassador Nicky Henderson gives his thoughts on the performances of some of his stable stars at the Cheltenham Festival and their plans for the rest of the season. The Seven Barrows handler spoke about his leading lights ahead of the 2021 Virtual Peter O’Sullevan Lambourn Open Day. Video tours and entertainment will be free-to-view throughout the Easter weekend, Friday 2nd April through to Monday 5th April, on the  Lambourn Open Day website. Racing fans across the globe will be able to see behind scenes at some of the UK’s leading training operations, with each Lambourn trainer’s page having a 360-degree stable tour, with horses of interest listed underneath. There will be a number of short videos and insight from some of the top names in Lambourn, including from Nicky Henderson and Oliver Sherwood. CHAMP We had two pretty good chances in the Gold Cup and that was very, very disappointing. To be fair it was all over after five fences with both horses. They were all running we

Barry Connell Irish Grand National Hope Espanito bello Andrew Nelis

Barry Connell is aiming to win the BoyleSports   Irish National   at Fairyhouse in his first season as a trainer with   Espanito Bello . Connell’s yellow and blue silks are a familiar sight on Irish racecourses, in fact Connell used to sport them himself for a lot of years. It was only in July he took out a licence of his own, however, and the man who has seen his colours carried to victory by the likes of Martello Tower, Shinrock Paddy and The Tullow Tank believes the seven-year-old has all the right credentials, having looked a marginally unlucky loser in the Ten Up Novice Chase. “He’s definitely on track for the National,” said Connell. “I think he might still have won the Ten Up but for making the mistake at the last, I thought he was just getting the better of the argument at the time.             Barry Connell is aiming to win the BoyleSports  Irish National  at Fairyhouse in his first season as a trainer with  Espanito Bello . Aintree Betway Bowl assault for Native River Andrew Nelis Racing

Native River will lead Colin and Joe Tizzard's team into battle at next week's Randox Grand National meeting at Aintree. The 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero came up short in his bid to regain his crown at Prestbury Park earlier in the month, but was far from disgraced in finishing fourth - the fourth time he has finished in the first four in the blue riband. The 11-year-old is now set for his first tilt at the Betway Bowl on Thursday week.                    Andrew Nelis Racing

Jonbon a wee bit special Andrew Nelis Racing

Jonbon, whose stunning price tag matches his beautiful pedigree, produced a sparkling display on his rules debut in Newbury's bumper and could be something special, trainer Nicky Henderson said in his post-race debrief. A brother to the brilliant Douvan, Jonbon strolled home in a point-to-point at Dromahane for Ellmarie Holden in November and was then purchased by JP McManus for £570,000. That figure made him the most expensive point-to-pointer ever sold at auction and McManus subsequently placed his big-money buy in the care of the Lambourn-based Henderson, who had described the gelding as a "beautiful horse" and "exciting for everyone".                         Andrew Nelis racing

John Joe Oneill has a serious Grand national contender who will stay all day Andrew Nelis racing .

I have watched  Cloth cap for some time now and seen, how he went about his races , this is a horse  owned by trevor Hemmings  who by the way , has bought and succeeded in the past buying horses who are out and out stayers , the price is now gone  for this horse , but on the day he in my opinion will not be out of the places,  his pedigree and stamina will have a lot of them strung out  going into the last mile of the race at Aintree  I missed the 20/1 on offer at the time   but 4/1 is still backebale in a horse   who's trainer and especially owner who knows what it takes to win the big one at Aintree        Andrew Nelis racing news and reviews

Tom ponders on Admirel for crack at National Andrew Nelis Racing

Tom Lacey still has Aintree in mind for Adrimel. The Herefordshire trainer’s Grade Two winner faded tamely to be pulled up behind the impressive Vanillier in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at last week’s Cheltenham Festival. Lacey reports the six-year-old, previously unbeaten in three starts over hurdles, to have recovered well from his experience. Both he and Tea Clipper, third in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham, may therefore head to Aintree’s Grand National meeting next month. Lacey said of Adrimel: “Nothing has come to light – he seems very well in himself. “Obviously, it was a concern how quickly he stopped. But nothing has come to mind – I had a long conversation with (jockey) Richard Johnson (this week). “He’ll have an entry in the three-mile novice and the two-and-a-half-mile novice at Aintree – and I think we’ll just have a wait and see what the ground does.” Adrimel had raced exclusively on soft or heavy ground up to last week, and won five of six starts under rules – as wel
