The former champion jockey enjoyed a memorable Ebor Festival at York, with six winners highlighted by sprint sensation Battaash’s Nunthorpe victory as part of a fabulous Friday four-timer. He needed two more winners for his landmark heading into a new week, and suffered a few frustrating days before getting Zahratty home at Newmarket on Saturday. Horse Racing Ireland had initially intended to reschedule the race as part of an enhanced National Hunt programme later this year, but a number of factors have combined to mean that will not happen and it is hoped the decision will give trainers "as much certainty as possible in relation to the preparation of their horses"....                     Andrew Nelis Racing

The Irish champions beckons for Alpine Star Andrew Nelis

Alpine Star may bid to cap her fine season in next month’s Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. Jessica Harrington’s Group One-winning filly was outgunned only by the unbeaten Palace Pier in her first foray into open-age company against the colts in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville this month. She was previously a Royal Ascot winner in the Coronation Stakes and then narrowly failed to peg back Fancy Blue in the Prix de Diane over 10 and a half furlongs at Chantilly. Her owners the Niarchos family are yet to decide whether another of their three-year-old stars Highest Ground will be out again this season, or wait until next summer. But racing manager Alan Cooper confirmed they have a much more definite plan for Alpine Star.. “At the moment, Mrs Harrington is leaning towards the Irish Champion Stakes,” he said.                        Andrew Nelis Racing

Conditions need to be right for max Vega states Ralph Beckett Andrew Nelis racing

Ralph Beckett will only run Max Vega in the Pertemps St Leger at Doncaster provided conditions are suitable. Having finished down the field in the Derby on his penultimate start, last year's Zetland Stakes winner returned close to his best when finding only Hukum too strong in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes on his most recent outing at Newbury. While Beckett - who won the St Leger with Simple Verse in 2015 - is keen to let Max Vega have a second shot at Classic glory, his chances of appearing on Town Moor will depend on how much rain falls in the build up to the race....                      Andrew Nelis Racing

Love is a deserved favourite for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in the view of Frankie Dettori following her exploits this season. Victories in the 1000 Guineas, Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks have seen Aidan O'Brien's filly usurp Enable at the head of the market for the European middle-distance championship - and Dettori is fully aware of the threat she poses to the John Gosden-trained mare's bid for an unprecedented third victory in the race. Click to View Bonus Code Details Champion jockey Oisin Murphy is weighing up whether or not to appeal against the seven-day suspension he picked up at Ayr on Monday, which rules him out of the Pertemps St Leger Festival at Doncaster. Murphy was successful aboard odds-on shot Tiritomba, but was found guilty of careless riding as he was judged by the stewards to have “allowed his mount to drift left for a considerable time without sufficient correction causing (Paul) Mulrennan (rider of Ricksen) to take a significant check and clip heels”. Murphy is currently well clear of nearest pursuer Tom Marquand is this year’s race for the jockeys’ championship Asked about the possibility of an appeal, he said: “I haven’t spoken to the PJA (Professional Jockeys Association) yet, to be honest. “I had an appeal that I didn’t win the other day from a ban at Wolverhampton, which wasn’t what I hoped for. “It’s a little bit stressful, because I hope everyone is aw

Roger Varian's grey was a rare winning favourite in one of the Flat calendar's most notoriously difficult handicaps. Make a challenge is a challenge for in form Denis Hogan Andrew Nelis

Denis Hogan is plotting a path via Saturday’s Curragh Sprint Stakes for his consistent gelding Make A Challenge. The five-year-old is due to line up in the Listed six-furlong contest as he prepares for future Group One engagements. Twice a winner this season after clocking up six successes last term, the son of Invincible Spirit was last seen coming home just a length behind A’Ali in the Group Two Holden Plant Rentals Sapphire Stakes. Hogan now has his eye on a handful of top-flight sprints and is hoping this weekend’s run will serve as the perfect preparation. “We’re looking forward to it,” he said. “He’s just had a freshen up since his last run, I suppose we’re aiming for the Flying Five at the Curragh on Champions Weekend, on September 13. “These are all stepping stones for there really. Speak In Colours will be hard to beat, but he’s beaten him this season already. We’re not expecting to just turn up and win or anything, but we think it’ll bring him on for the Flying F

Battaash wins the Coolmore Nunthorpe stakes in fine style Andrew Nelis

Battaash continued his brilliant sprinting CV with a hard-fought victory in defence of his Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes crown at York. Charlie Hills' speedster had to defy rain-softened ground which put hopes of bettering the course record he set last year off the agenda. He also faced an unexpectedly stern challenge from outsider Que Amoro, before getting firmly on top in the final furlong to land the odds as the 1-2 favourite and see off the 22-1 runner-up by a length..                   Andrew Nelis Racing

Safe Voyage bids to get back to winning ways in a "spicy" renewal of the Sky Bet City of York Stakes. The consistent John Quinn-trained seven-year-old, who won the Surrey Stakes at the Derby meeting on his penultimate outing, finished a close-up fourth in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood last time out. He met trouble in running there - and while Quinn does not think that cost victory over Space Blues, it would still have been a much better run on paper than it initially looks                       Andrew Nelis Racing

Happy Days for happy romance for Richatd Hannon Andrew Nelis Racing

Happy Romance landed her owners another huge pot when holding off the late attention of favourite Devious Company in the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes at York. With the Weatherbys Super Sprint in the bag, connections of the Richard Hannon-trained winner were already in bonus territory, although she did have to prove her stamina stepping up to six furlongs for the first time. The Dandy Man filly showed her blistering speed when quickening away from the field over a furlong out, with the dual Group Two-placed Devious Company - whose previous four outings had come at seven furlongs - caught flat-footed...                      Andrew Nelis Racing
