Scotsman stakes goes to Noble Truth. Andrew Nelis racing

Noble Truth clung on for victory in a thrilling renewal of the Cazoo Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster. Charlie Appleby’s charge looked a winner in waiting when third behind the high-class Lusail on his Newmarket debut in June – and duly got off the mark on his return to the July Course a few weeks later. Having finished only fourth in last month’s Acomb Stakes at York, the Kingman colt was a 9-1 shot to get back on the winning trail in this Listed event which was won by the brilliant Frankel 11 years ago. Always travelling strongly in the hands of William Buick, Noble Truth navigated his way to the lead before being strongly pressed by Andrew Balding’s 2-1 favourite Hoo Ya Mal in the last strides. The pair flashed by the post almost as one, but the judge confirmed the Godolphin runner had won by a nose.                Andrew Nelis racing news

Lack of cut in the ground leaves connections of Trueshan to pull him out .Andrew Nelis racing

Trueshan will miss his intended re-match with Stradivarius in the Doncaster Cup, because of a lack of significant rain on Town Moor. Trainer Alan King had indicated on Thursday that the Goodwood Cup winner would not take his chance in the Group Two feature unless overnight rain softened the forecast good to firm ground. It was therefore no surprise when King made an early announcement on Friday morning that Trueshan will be a non-runner because of the going - leaving John and Thady Gosden's brilliant stayer Stradivarius with just five opponents as he bids to regain his Doncaster title.                    Andrew Nelis racing

Inspiral solidified her position at the head of the betting for next year's 1000 Guineas with a straightforward success in the Cazoo May Hill Stakes at Doncaster. Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, the John and Thady Gosden-trained filly was sent off at the prohibitive price of 2-9 having won her first two races stylishly. A daughter of Frankel, she was settled in the middle of the field by Frankie Dettori in the early stages, as Prosperous Voyage took them along at a sedate tempo.                 Andrew Nelis Racing

Hollie booked for the ride on Interpretation St Leger .Andrew Nelis racing

Hollie Doyle   has spoken of her delight at picking up the mount on   Interpretation   for Aidan O’Brien in the Cazoo St   Leger   – her first ride in the   Doncaster   Classic. Doyle has linked up with Ireland’s champion trainer on a couple of occasions at York this year, finishing fourth in the Dante Stakes on Roman Empire and third in the Yorkshire Oaks on 150-1 chance La Joconde. The record-breaking jockey has clearly impressed O’Brien, who has handed her the mount on the Galileo colt who has won his last three, including at Listed level last time out in the Vinnie Roe Stakes, where he beat Donnacha O’Brien’s  Fernando Vichi , who reopposes.                      Andrew Nelis racing

Gordon to run entries in flat at punchestown. Andrew Nelis racing

Gordon Elliott has made a handful of entries for Tuesday’s Flat meeting at Punchestown after his six-month ban expired on Thursday. The trainer was suspended by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board in March after an image of Elliott sitting on a dead horse was widely circulated on social media. Elliott was banned for 12 months, with half of that sentence suspended, and ordered to pay costs of €15,000 with the IHRB stating the punishment reflected “the seriousness of the offence and the damage to the Irish racing industry” after the image provoked huge public outcry. Denise Foster took temporary control of Elliott’s Cullentra base, enjoying a Grade One winner at the Cheltenham Festival with Mares’ Hurdle victor Black Tears while also saddling dual Grand National hero Tiger Roll as he bounced back to winning form with a wide-margin success in the cross country. Elliott is now free to resume business at his County Meath yard and has five possibles at Punchestown. Oh Purple Reign, who
